Dr Yao conducts research in the field of uncertainty quantification and risk analysis in civil engineering, with a particular focus on underground construction. Together with Prof. Michael Beer's team, he is working on a new approach to risk assessment in underground construction in order to derive decisions for low-risk construction processes.
