Christian Heipke new president of ISPRS

During the XXIII Congresses of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS), which took place in July 2016 in Prague, Christian Heipke, Director of the Institute for Photogrammetry and GeoInformation (IPI) of Leibniz Universität Hannover was elected ISPRS President for the next four years. The last German to hold this office was Gottfried Konecny, who served as ISPRS president from 1984 to 1988; Konecny is also the predecessor of Heipke as IPI director.

ISPRS is an international non-governmental organization that promotes international cooperation between the worldwide organizations with interests in the photogrammetry, remote sensing and spatial information sciences. Established in 1910, ISPRS is the oldest international umbrella organization in its field, which may be summarized as addressing “information from imagery”.
