155. North German Mechanics Colloquium

A long-standing tradition of scientific exchange: on 31 January 2026, around 50 researchers from eight universities in northern Germany gathered for the 155th "Norddeutsches Mechanik-Kolloquium" (North German Mechanics Colloquium) at Leibniz University Hannover.

This semester's colloquium was organised by the Institute of Mechanics and Computational Mechanics. The scientific programme included six presentations from the mechanics institutes in Hanover and the University of Kassel. In the afternoon, Dr Ariane Walsdorf guided the participants through the Leibniz exhibition in the main building.

The "Norddeutsches Mechanik-Kolloquium" dates back to 1947. Every semester, scientists from the field of mechanics meet at alternating locations of the now 11 member universities.
